The big question I get is, "Why?" Why am I doing this? Why can't I let the past be the past? Why can't I accept things for the way they are? Why can't I just let it go?
There is no simple answer.
My lifelong quest has been to discover the paternal biological side of my family. My origin story has always been shrouded in mystery and in many ways, has defined who I am. This venture isn't just about me. It also affects my wife and my children and they have been riding this crazy roller coaster with me.
After discovering the facts. I needed a place to voice them, to be totally transparent and truthful about what I have found. It's cathartic for me to share my story with whomever wishes to know more about me and my family. I hope that my experience can help others in the future.
I'm not out to vilify anyone, point fingers or question anyone's loyalty. I harbor no animosity towards anyone nor am I out for anything more than a "nice to meet you" and a hearty handshake. It's super-exciting to connect with anyone that shares a portion of my DNA. Seeing familiar faces and recognizing quirky personality traits never gets old. We share a history… one I want to get to know more about.
